NINA SECHKO

Nina Sechko is a contemporary artist whose practice examines the contemplation of self, evoking emotional resonance with the viewer through a visual language that is at once intimate, playful, and subtly infused with humour drawn from the natural world. Her paintings unfold like visual poetry, weaving together mythology, personal history, and universal symbols of femininity and renewal. Exclusively represented by ROBINEAU ART, Sechko’s work forms part of a broader curatorial discourse centred on sensitivity, movement, and emotional presence.

Rooted in her experience of growing up surrounded by strong women, Nina Sechko’s work reflects the warmth, care, and emotional knowledge passed down through generations. Her paintings become meditations on life’s cyclical nature, serving as archetypal metaphors for continuity, transformation, and rebirth.

Nina Sechko’s artistic practice is grounded in an intimate understanding of human anatomy, a skill honed during her time in medical school. This knowledge informs her figurative painting, allowing her to navigate the body not only as form, but as presence. Working primarily with oil paint, she employs surface treatments with the precision of a sewing needle, building unique volumetric textures that mimic the tactile sensation of the physical body.

This deliberate fusion of classical technique and contemporary sensibility situates Nina Sechko within a broader discourse of contemporary figurative painting. Her work bridges tradition and innovation, grounding ethereal subject matter in material reality while maintaining a vibrant, modern aesthetic that celebrates diversity in medium, form, and influence.

Nina Sechko’s artistic universe is shaped by a layered tapestry of visual references, drawing from the bold linearity of comics, the expressive storytelling of anime, and the nostalgic imagery of childhood book illustrations. These influences surface as innocent undertones across her paintings, sculptures, installations, and video works, forming a cohesive body of work that navigates memory, sensitivity, and emotional imagination.
