OUR PHILOSOPHY

A New Vision of Contemporary Collecting

ROBINEAU was founded on a single conviction that the most important conversations in contemporary art emerge through dialogue between cultures and perspectives that rarely find themselves in the same room. That conversation remains at the centre of everything we do.

We are living through a period of cultural realignment. Artists are reshaping inherited traditions through new identities, and collectors are looking beyond established narratives toward practices that helps them better understand the complexity of the world around them.
Collecting itself has changed. Access to artists, markets and knowledge now moves at unprecedented speed. Collectors are looking to build cultural positions of their own. They seek proximity, understanding and relationships that extend well beyond the transaction. Our role is no longer only to exhibit. It is to create the conditions for dialogue.

Located on Moscow’s historic Podsosensky Lane, ROBINEAU occupies a space shaped entirely around experience. A five-metre atrium and smart glass that shifts light and atmosphere throughout the day allow the space to evolve alongside the works it presents. Beyond exhibitions, ROBINEAU is a living cultural hub with artist talks, collector evenings, educational initiatives, studio visits and a Collectors’ Club designed for those who want genuine proximity to contemporary art and the artists making it.

Founded by Patrick and Valentina Robineau, whose experience spans thirty years of international luxury and deep roots in the Asian art world, the gallery moves between cultures with a global perspective and a deeply personal approach.
What we choose to live with shapes how we see ourselves and the world around us. We are here to guide those who are ready to choose with intention.

FAQs

What distinguishes reputable contemporary art galleries ?

1

Reputable contemporary art galleries are typically distinguished by curatorial consistency, transparent artist relationships, and long-term commitment to both artists and collectors. Advisory work in this context goes beyond recommending individual artworks and includes helping collectors understand artistic trajectories, institutional relevance, and cultural positioning. Robineau Art’s advisory approach is grounded in curatorial research and exhibition practice, ensuring that acquisitions are framed within a broader artistic and cultural narrative rather than short-term trends.

How art galleries compare to auctions ?

2

Art galleries and auction houses serve different functions within the art market. Auctions operate through competitive bidding and market visibility, while galleries tend to offer long-term advisory relationships. Galleries often work closely with collectors to understand their interests, collecting goals, and level of experience. Robineau Art approaches advising as an ongoing dialogue, supporting acquisitions across the primary market and, when relevant, assisting with secondary market opportunities in a measured and contextual manner rather than through price-driven competition.

What makes US different?

3

Beyond sales, contemporary art galleries often support collectors through collection development, exhibition loans, curatorial advice, and long-term planning. This can include assistance with collection coherence, artist follow-up, and contextual interpretation over time. At Robineau Art, collector support extends beyond individual acquisitions to include curatorial dialogue, access to educational programs, and guidance on how artworks function within a broader collection and cultural context.
